Militants reportedly used a UAV to deliver explosives during attack on Air Base 101 in Niamey, Niger

A Russian milblog post claims that during the night of 28–29 January 2026, Islamic State Sahel militants used a UAV to deliver explosive devices in an attack on Niger’s Air Base 101 in Niamey. The post also describes Nigerien armed forces’ use of Bayraktar TB2 and Aksungur UAVs for reconnaissance and strikes, mainly in Tillaberi region.
