NATO outlines eastern flank deterrence concept featuring an unmanned “autonomous zone”
NATO officials described an Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative concept that envisions an “autonomous zone” where unmanned systems, linked sensors and long-range fires would detect and target invading forces early in a conflict. The concept is being developed and tested through exercises and pilots in the Baltic region, including Crystal Arrow in Latvia.
