Pentagon selects KBR/Kord Firefly laser system for pilot program to defend U.S. bases from drones

The Pentagon selected KBR subsidiary Kord Technologies for a pilot program to test the Firefly mobile high-energy laser system for counter-drone defense at U.S. military installations. The yearlong assessment will place directed-energy weapons at bases across the United States, with service members operating and collecting performance, cost, and logistics data.
