US Army seeks 30–100 autonomous drone boats to support Pacific logistics and testing in Hawaii

The US Army is pursuing a fleet of 30 to 100 heavy-duty autonomous watercraft (“drone boats”) to help address a Pacific watercraft shortfall and reduce mariner manpower demands. Army leaders said they want an industry-provided autonomous vessel for testing as early as next summer, with initial operations envisioned around Hawaii and broader use across the Indo-Pacific.
