Belgium and the Netherlands are integrating a stand-off mine countermeasures concept using dedicated MCM motherships plus a large toolbox of unmanned systems (USVs, AUVs with synthetic aperture sonar, towed sonars, ROVs, and shipborne UAVs) managed via UMISOFT. The novelty is the operational integration of multiple uncrewed platforms/sensors into an end-to-end mine-hunting and neutralisation kill chain, with key challenges in software integration, data management, and automated launch/recovery at higher sea states.
