Canada selects TKMS Type 212CD design for up to 12 CPSP submarines

Canada selected TKMS as preferred bidder to negotiate delivery of up to 12 submarines based on the Type 212CD design. While not a battlefield-front innovation, it represents adoption of a modern low-signature, Arctic-capable submarine platform with NATO interoperability and special forces/ISR roles, potentially changing undersea surveillance and deterrence posture in the Arctic and Atlantic/Pacific.
