Germany to form first dedicated drone regiment integrating UAS/UGV, EW and C-UAS

Germany plans to stand up its first dedicated drone regiment (from 2027, aiming for full capability by 2029) consolidating reconnaissance, deep-strike drones (up to ~500 km depending on commercial platforms), unmanned ground vehicles, electronic warfare, and counter-UAS under one command. This is an institutional/doctrinal shift driven by Ukraine war lessons, creating a permanent formation and parallel plan to field tactical unmanned systems across infantry, recon, and armor branches.
