Hanwha prototypes 50 kW laser on Tigon armored vehicle for counter-drone role

Hanwha is pitching a mobile 50 kW directed-energy weapon mounted on a Tigon 8x8 armored vehicle, derived from the stationary Cheongwang laser already fielded in South Korea since 2024. The novelty is the shift to a higher-power, vehicle-mounted system intended to track and engage fast-moving drones with very low cost-per-shot, potentially enabling scalable counter-UAS defense for NATO eastern flank forces.
