Raytheon and the U.S. Navy are advancing the Mark 58 Compact Rapid Attack Weapon (CRAW), a new compact submarine-launched torpedo family with planned anti-submarine and hard-kill anti-torpedo variants. Novel elements highlighted include expanded propulsion options (electric plus stored chemical/rocket-like propulsion) and new launch concepts such as multi-packing many CRAW rounds into Virginia-class 21-inch tubes and launching from external countermeasure launchers for torpedo defense.
