NATO announced Saab’s GlobalEye as its next airborne early warning and control platform, replacing the aging E-3 AWACS fleet. While not a frontline tactical change, it represents a significant capability modernization (Erieye ER radar + multi-sensor/C2 suite on Global 6500) that can improve detection/tracking of low-flying threats like drones and cruise missiles and strengthen alliance-wide air surveillance.
