Rolls-Royce and Safran propose co-developing 120 kN-class AMCA Mk-2 fighter engine

The post describes competing proposals by Rolls-Royce (with Reliance) and Safran (with GTRE/DRDO) to co-develop and manufacture in India a new ~120 kN-class turbofan for the AMCA Mk-2, including unusually deep technology transfer (hot-section and turbine architecture) and potential creation of a domestic gas-turbine industrial complex. While not a battlefield deployment, it is a notable propulsion/industrial innovation effort that could materially affect future combat aircraft capability and sustainment autonomy.
