Sig Sauer develops 25-round magazine and stiffer handguard for M8 NGSW carbine

Sig Sauer is introducing a 25-round magazine for the Army’s 6.8x51mm NGSW family to address ammunition loadout concerns versus the prior 20-round mag, and is also redesigning the M8’s handguard to reduce flex that misaligns lasers/NV aiming devices. These are incremental but operationally relevant infantry-weapon refinements driven by soldier feedback, improving sustained fire capacity and night-fighting accuracy/zero retention.
