Navantia is progressing construction of Spain’s BAM-IS, a dedicated submarine rescue and deep-sea intervention ship designed to deploy rescue mini-submarines and ROVs to 3,000 m, with onboard hyperbaric facilities and heavy-lift crane. While not a frontline battlefield tactic, it represents a new/expanded naval capability for NATO-aligned forces in submarine rescue, underwater recovery, and seabed operations support.
