Taiwan Hai Kun IDS conducts first Mk48 Mod 6AT torpedo launch test

Taiwan’s first Indigenous Defense Submarine (Hai Kun SS-711) conducted a weapon system verification firing of two Mk48 Mod 6AT heavyweight torpedoes, validating tube launch, wire-guidance, and combat-system detect/track/fire-control integration. While Mk48 is not new, this is a notable new capability milestone for Taiwan’s indigenous submarine program and indicates progress toward operational readiness.
