UK commits to adding flying-boom refueling capability to RAF tankers

The UK government confirmed the RAF will develop a flying-boom aerial refueling capability to complement its probe-and-drogue Voyagers, driven largely by the future GCAP/Tempest and existing boom-receptacle aircraft (P-8A, RC-135W, C-17, E-7, F-35A). While not a frontline battlefield tactic, it is a notable capability shift that improves fuel-transfer rates and NATO interoperability and may require modifying A330 MRTT Voyagers or procuring new boom-equipped tankers.
