US Navy deploys Littoral Combat Force-24 under tailored deployment concept

The U.S. is replacing a standard Amphibious Ready Group/MEU package with a “sub-optimized” Littoral Combat Force (LCF-24), described as a purpose-built MAGTF for distributed operations using shore nodes and a single ship. This reflects a new, more flexible deployment concept intended to generate tailored force packages and “do more with less,” potentially changing how amphibious crisis-response forces are forward-postured.
