US soldiers trained to identify drones by sound in the field

US Army personnel are learning to distinguish different drone types by their acoustic signatures (“listening to the sky”), an informal but emerging fieldcraft approach to improve early warning and cue counter-UAS actions when sensors are limited. This reflects adaptation to pervasive small-UAS threats and could be formalized into training doctrine.
