USAF seeks portable medium-caliber gun air defense for drones/cruise missiles

The U.S. Air Force issued an RFI for a Ground-Based, Medium-Caliber Gun Weapon System to provide a lower-cost, magazine-fed defense against UAS (Group 1–5) and subsonic cruise missiles, including saturation attacks. The novelty is the push toward a deployable gun-based interceptor with integrated multi-sensor targeting (radar/EO/IR/RF) as an affordable alternative/complement to expensive missile interceptors for overseas base defense.
