Belgium launches rMCM mothership M943 Liège; construction starts on M945 Rochefort

Belgium’s rMCM program is fielding new mine countermeasures “mothership” vessels designed to deploy modular unmanned surface, underwater, and aerial systems using a stand-off concept so crews avoid entering mined areas. The launch of M943 Liège and steel-cut of M945 Rochefort indicate continued rollout of this unmanned, autonomous MCM approach, a notable shift from traditional manned minehunting.
